As trite as it might sound, regular oven cleaning can bring many more benefits that just an oven that looks as good as new.
A main benefit of regular oven cleaning is the fact that the oven will stay much more energy efficient – a clean oven will distribute heat much more efficiently than a dirty oven, meaning that less energy or fuel needs to be consumed to warm up or keep the oven at the desired temperature. Good oven efficiency also means that the oven will cook the food more evenly.
In particular, a clean oven door will mean that food is easily seen and checked on, so the door doesn’t have to be opened so regularly. This means that less heat is lost whilst the oven is in use, less energy/ful is required, and the food cooks faster!
Another benefit of regular oven cleaning is the ability to keep a check on the general state of the oven; in a clean oven, it’s easier to spot whether there are problems with the oven door seal, or other parts such as the element or gas pipes, and to carry out any necessary repairs or maintenance.
Although after a certain high temperature, food odours are eliminated, burnt food, and a build up of fat, grease and grime can leave an oven smelling rather unpleasant. Regular cleaning ensures that no nasty odours are left lingering.
Grease and grime accumulating inside an oven and on the hob or stove can present a fire hazard to any oven, whether domestic, commercial, gas or electric. Regular oven cleaning as well as a scheduled deep clean is a good way to reduce any fire of general safety hazards.
